About Us

KEISHINKAN    啓心館

Keishinkan is the Perth branch of the Japan Aikido Association and was founded by Katie Noad and Noriko Shimada on 19th October 1989.

The Japanese characters used in Keishinkan roughly translate to the "open heart place". The first character Kei, is also that which is used in Katie's Japanese name.

Keishinkan instructors Katie Noad and Noriko Shimada, for seven years,  also taught aikido to the theatre students of the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts (WAAPA - Edith Cowan University). The main intent of their training is mind/body connection and coordination, and connection to centre.

Keishinkan trains Aikido under Japan Aikido Association and Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu under Sugino Dojo in Kawasaki, Japan.

Keishinkan is the founding member of the Japanese Martial Arts Centre Incorporated.

Keishinkan welcomes all visitors and appreciates the exchange of knowledge and skills with aikidoka from all backgrounds.
